Twitter doesn't cut it as a vehicle for poetry. I'm just saying.

It is morning, I awake from a bed of silence,
Shining I rise from the starless waters of sleep.
The walls are about me still as in the evening,
I am the same, and the same name still I keep.
The earth revolves with me, yet makes no motion,
The stars pale silently in a coral sky.
In a whistling void I stand before my mirror,
Unconcerned, and tie my tie.

(from "Senlin" by Conrad Aiken)

I used to think that there was nothing better than the first stanza of that poem. Now I'm older, and I can go all the way to stanza 6.

I'm not sure Twitter really cuts it as a vehicle for anything. I'm also just saying.

*shrug* I enjoy it for other things. But the people who try to sustain long thoughts on it make me crazy.

Come to think of it, yeah, Joe, avoid Twitter. Avoid it like the plague. Brief is not your metier. Except for this one comment, which would have made an excellent tweet.

**makes note to self** Twitter: for snark only. Got it.

Exactly.
